| Cranfield School of Management is a world-class university business school based in the UK. It is renowned for its high quality teaching and research as well as strong links with industry and business. Besides its MBA and MSc programmes, Cranfield also runs management development courses - ranging from one day to several weeks - attended by over 6,000 managers from 80 different countries each year.
Cranfield is known above all as a School that provides practical management solutions that are achieved through its postgraduate degree, programs, management development courses, research and consultancy.
Cranfield School of Management exists to contribute to the improvement of management practice and leadership by:
- Conducting rigorous applied research into the practice of management
- Effectively disseminating the output of its research to its various constituencies
- Providing high-quality, relevant development and learning programs for middle and senior managers
The School operates as an academic service business, working with clients, organizations and individuals in Europe, North America, the Far East and elsewhere. A major component of the School of Management is the Centre for Business Performance.
As part of Cranfield School of Management, the Centre for Business Performance (CBP) specialises in the design, implementation, use and ongoing maintenance of performance measurement and management systems. The focus of the Centre's activity is applied research and knowledge transfer, involving the development, application and dissemination of practical tools and concepts underpinned by high-quality academic research. The specific aims of the Centre are:
- To develop new understanding, frameworks and tools for effective performance measurement and management.
- To provide practical support to organizations as they seek to enhance their performance measurement and management systems.
- To prepare and deliver educational and training materials for use at the postgraduate and post experience level.
- To provide a focus of the interdisciplinary practitioner-academic community centred on performance measurement and management.
- To interpret and disseminate relevant research findings.
In pursuit of this mission, in 2000 the Centre for Business Performance joined in a collaboration with Gartner, Inc., the world's largest IT research and analysis company, to produce high-quality research report products that would be of value to both the business and academic communities. The initial result of that collaboration is the Cranfield Business Review Publication entitled, "Weighing the Options: Balanced Scorecard Software". Additional reports resulting from this collaboration are expected in the future.
